New Born is a collection of images and videos that represents a new birth in the creative process, where artist and artificial intelligence create a unique imagery with infinite possibilities. The narrative unfolds in three chapters: Copulation, Gestation and Birth. Through surreal bodies and wombs in diverse spaces, visual possibilities are born and constantly transformed.

The womb appears as a suspended refuge: a place for memory, possibility and the emotional inheritance of the women who came before. These glowing forms hold grief, longing and the question of how much of ourselves comes from others.

Chapter I / 2022
Artist’s statement, 2022
First of all I wanted to create images that represented the union of two bodies copulating and creating life. At the beginning it wasn’t easy because MidJourney doesn’t allow the representation of a naked female body, so I had to experiment with keywords and play with abstract shapes. Mixing AI with my creative process is like having a surrealist as a partner, because I can create images that I would never be able to imagine.
The final result is a mix of sensuality and eroticism, a mix of feelings that I wanted to represent through the colors and the composition of the images. I wanted to represent the deep and intense feeling of love and new born, the passion and desire, the colors of the climax. I think this is something unique and this is what I was looking for.

Chapter II / 2022
Artist’s statement, 2022
In this second chapter I wanted to focus on the female body and the womb, where life is created. This is the gestation of the artwork. The process started with “wombs floating in space” as the basic idea. The idea of the floating wombs comes from the fact that I wanted to create a surreal atmosphere, I wanted an image that would be both beautiful and disturbing. I was looking to represent the swollen uterus, full of life.
Then, I created and evaluated anatomical images, others more surreal, different compositions and color palettes, so I had to make a selection.
It seems to me a very beautiful metaphor, sometimes the creative process takes days, weeks or months to develop. It requires patience, changes, pain and joy.
I sincerely believe that including AI tools in my work means a new artistic birth, a new perspective of creating, and at the same time, it is something that disturbs a bit because we don’t know how far it will go. The future of art is in the womb.

Chapter III / 2022
Artist’s statement, 2022
In this last chapter I wanted to focus on the birth of a new being, the product of joining an AI to my creative process. It was not easy, after generating many images I was able to obtain something that made me feel satisfied.
I was able to generate the male bodies faster than the female ones. There is still a bit of censorship on the prompts.
I like the metaphor of this series. It’s like when you meet someone and the emotion of love leads you to create without limits. The product of this union is something new and unique, something that I feel proud of.
These creatures coming out of the womb have created a new imaginary for me. The colors, textures and shapes are something that I was able to control, but the final result was something that I never could have imagined.
Thank you for joining me in this new process. I will continue working on more series. The future of art is here.
