EMBRACE

This body of drawings explores vulnerability and the dynamics of the embrace. An embrace can hold both welcome and farewell at once. It does not necessarily require arms, only contact; and although it is ephemeral, it carries memory and leaves an imprint.

Working with delicate, fragile materials, I construct a visual language through lines, stains, and gestures that echo the act of embracing. Forms meet, overlap, cling, and separate, leaving behind traces and voids.

Embrace brings together three bodies of work: Abrazo para contenerme, Apegos and Empierne.

Empierne

2022 / Ink and embroidery on canvas

Intertwined legs trace a place of encounter. A red thread moves through the drawing, holding one body in relation to another.

Apegos

2022 / Drawing

Bodies leaning into one another; an embrace as a way of belonging.

Abrazo para contenerme

2022 / Drawing

The embrace turns inward: arms, hair and the outline of the body become gestures of self-containment.
